On November 6, approximately 100 members of the local business community gathered together at the Peón Contreras Theater in Mérida to celebrate the final Tarde IPADE, the last in a series of events to celebrate IPADE’s 50th Anniversary with the IPADE alumni community in each of the major cities where IPADE has a significant presence.
Following the celebration of a Thanksgiving Mass, attendees were invited to participate in an academic session titled “The Challenges of Modern Society,” led by Professor Rodrigo de León from the Department of Social and Political Environment.
Attendees were then treated to a screening of the documentary produced by Editorial Clío. Commissioned as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations, the documentary provides an in-depth look at IPADE’s first half century using archival footage and interviews with the IPADE community.
Rafael Gómez Nava, Dean of IPADE, thanked the local business community: “IPADE has graduated three AD-2 classes and two AD classes. A total of 192 IPADE alumni are based in Mérida. This is thanks to the untiring labor of the local promotion committee and of the executives gathered here today, who have put their trust in us and helped spread the word about IPADE to the local business community.”
Amid applause, Dean Gómez Nava then thanked each of the IPADE classes present at the event and asked them all to stand.
The event closed with a performance of Horizontes: reflexiones sonoras hacia la virtud (Horizons: Musical reflections on virtue), commissioned by IPADE from Samuel Zyman in celebration of the institution’s anniversary. The piece was performed by the Yucatán Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Visiting Conductor Maestro Germán Tort.
